It was a warm sunny day in Cochabamba! We all joined in the ministry for the morning.

We did a lot of walking, but the pace is slow so it wasn't too intense. There are lots of pretty flowers blooming. The view of the mountains is inescapable, they surround us. It's funny to think, probably the Bolivians raised here don't even notice them anymore.

Something I had missed from Brazil was the fresh juice, and today I had fresh passionfruit juice, (my favorite) not once, but twice! Win-win-win. Stacie let me try her coconut&lemon juice - oh my goodness, it was fantastic! Speaking of fruit - the mystery fruit yesterday was actually a plum! Mom got it right. Tasted just the same, had a tiny pit in the middle.
We got our first taste of the Bolivian "trufi", a small bus. These colorful vans tightly seat 25 plus some standing room. One was plastered inside with Korean soap opera posters. Some have curtains with pom-pom trim. The windows have advertising phrases like "comfortable" "elegant" "distinctive" "safe". Hmm, took the words right out of my mouth ...
We also had some time to visit the enormous street market. It made me think of chinatown, but dirtier and junkier, and so crowded. But it is the place to find everything. We did not purchase consumables... There are kids with water guns that will spray you when you're not paying attention. We got hit three times ... I was not amused.

Imagine that--Keri not amused haha! And I can just imagine Dad loving the junkyard market...he was probably helping the water gun kids!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I guessed the plum! Day one sounded great. I'm sure bob loved the market!!!! He. Will probably go again! Peter loves to see your pics. It's snowing here. Maybe six ins. Love mom
ReplyDeleteI'm just really glad it was water in the guns and not other liquids that it sometimes is.
